Gelita
Local haemostatic agent
Gelita is made of pure gelatin and is completely absorbed. The haemostatic effect results from the adherence of the blood platelets to the surface of the sponge and the tamponade effect its swelling creates. Within a short period of time natural blood clotting takes place.
Advantages
- Not tissue-irritating
- Moldable and compressible
- High Absorption capacity: water uptake ≥ 35 fold its own weight.
- Absorbed within 4-6 weeks
- Can be used as carrier for thrombin
- Can be cut to desired size
