Polyurethane films

The primary role of films is to protect the newly formed tissue from aggression, while maintaining a moist environment.
Films are impermeable to water and microrganisms, water vapor permeable and transparent but they do not have the ability to absorb exudate and hence cannot be placed on exuding wounds.
They can be used as a secondary dressing and as a fixation device for IV cannula.
